“Loving
and caring would characterized Paul. He has a great deal of respect for
women. He’s always willing to help someone out, all you have to do is
ask...”, that was how his mother described him.
Paul Leighton Brown was born January 20, 1959 in Jamaica, West Indies to Elorie and Donald Brown. He received his early teachings from St Aloysius Boys School and St Georges College.
The Lord found him February 1975 under the ministry of Bishop B.S.E. Dyer. He was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. He obtained his christian and biblical foundation under Pastor B.S. E. Dyer.
Elder Brown migrated to the United States in March 1977. The Lord led him to Bible Way Church, Philadelphia where Bishop B. F. Peterson 11 was the pastor. While servicing under Bishop Peterson, he attended Drexel University where he graduated in 1982 with Masters and Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
Elder Brown re-located to Edison, New Jersey where he served with Mother Ford and the saints at Bible Way Church, New Brunswick. He moved to Neptune, New Jersey in 1983 and served at the Bible Way Church under the leadership of Bishop Paul Commodore.
In 1984, he met his lovely wife, Tori Jones. They were married on February 16, 1985 and he later went to serve with his wife at First Pentecostal Church, under the leadership of Pastor Geneva Crudup. They have three children from their union: Taphenese, Tashelle, and Terrell.
Pastor Crudup's leadership brought him to experience the message of sonship by Bishop Monroe R. Saunders, Sr.
Pastor Brown has served in the capacity of Sunday School superintendent, district evangelist and international young people president. He has served in the local assembly, district as well as at the national level.
“After many years of joyful service, the Lord has called him to serve in capacity of pastor of the First Pentecostal Church...”said Bishop Monroe R. Saunders. The Bible says that the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, so the journey continues
Betty Jean Morris Jones, affectionately known by her grandchildren as
“Baby” is a woman of God who has served faithfully in the same church for
over 50 years. She has shown much strength and leadership abilities in her
home, church and the secular world. She studies the “Word” diligently and
lives what she has read, been taught, and what has been revealed unto her by
God. She can be soft-spoken, outspoken, kind, witty, humorous a
disciplinarian and teacher.
Pastor Jones, along with her twin sister, Barbara Jean, was born in Birmingham,Alabama on April 30, 1938 to the late Annie Mae Vaughn Morris Hurt and the late Feaoley Morris. “Muddear”, as she was lovingly called, moved the family; Feaoley, Frances Elizabeth, Betty Jean, Barbara Jean and Willie James, to the shore area when they were very young. They lived in the Asbury Park Village and graduated from the local high school in 1957. She was saved at the early age of 15 and visited various churches singing with her twin sister. Thus they were pegged, “The Singing Sweethearts” of Asbury Park.
She attended Monmouth Vocational School to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. In 1961, a beautiful double wedding ceremony took place and Betty married John Oscar Jones. From this union four daughters were born; Tori Lei, Trecia Ann, Tracy Aileen and Tia Johnette.
Pastor Jones is happiest when she is serving, attending church or with her sister, for they are inseparable. She has been a member of the First Pentecostal Church for over 50 years under the leadership of the late Mother Geneva Crudup and still serves under the leadership of Pastor Paul L. Brown. She serves as head of the FPC Ministerial Staff, Sunday School Teacher, Deaconess, Trustee and Care Ministry Member. She has also served in the capacity of District and Local Women’s President, FPC Adult Choir Member and President, and wherever else she’s needed. She is an ardent supporter of her church, the 2nd Episcopal District (formerly known as the North-Eastern District), and the United Churches. She has also received the distinguished “Woman of the Year” award from the United Churches of Jesus Christ, and was ordained as Evangelist in June 1999. Her latest appointment is Associate Pastor of the First Pentecostal Church.
Pastor Jones worked private duty for many years and then returned to Jersey Shore Medical Center to finish up her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
She has three son-in-laws: Senior Pastor/Elder Paul Leighton Brown, Michael Clinton Brown, and Minister Peter-Donnell Boynton. She is the grandmother of ten: Tanaya Latesh, Tamara Areese, Bri’ana Lavonne, Taphenese Lanette, Taleisa Mona, Tashelle Lenee’, Amber Vaughn, Terrell Leighton, Ju’el Tia, Donnell Jonathan, and Donovan Ishmael. She is also the great-grandmother of two: Takayla Iasia and Amirah Lynnae.
Pastor Jones continues to be an inspiration to her church family, biological family and those she meets along this path. Her journey continues...
